Now, இந்த சீனை பார்ப்போம்.
ஐயோ..ஐயோ..ஐயோ..ஐயோ..ஐயோ..ஐயோ..ஐயோ...ஐயோ..ஐயோ..ஐயோ..இந்தியாவை கேவலப்படுத்திவிட்டார்களே (Slumdog Millionaire படத்திற்கு அப்படித்தான் குரல் கொடுத்தார்கள்) என்று சிலருக்குத் தோன்றலாம். சிலர் காமடியாக எடுத்துக்கொள்ளலாம். அது இரண்டாம்பட்சம். மிகமுக்கியமானது, மேலே பார்த்த புள்ளிவிவரம். அது facts. நம்மைச்சுற்றி என்ன நடக்கிறது என்ற கவனம் இல்லாவிடில், இதுவெறும் offensive காமெடியாக/அல்லது ஜாலியாக கடந்து போய்விடும். ஆனால் சிலபல விஷயங்கள் பற்றிய பின்புலம்/இல்லை, அதைத்தேடிப் போகும் ஆர்வம் இருந்தாலொழிய இதுபோன்ற காமெடிகளை எரிச்சலாகவே பார்க்க வேண்டியிருக்கும். இதை க்ரியேட் செய்தவர்களுக்கு, இத்தனை தகவல்கள் தெரிந்திருக்கலாம்/தெரிந்திருக்காமல் போகலாம். ஆனால், நம்மை கொஞ்சமேனும் அசைத்துப்பார்த்தால் போதும். இது ஒன்றும் பிரமாதமான காமெடி இல்லைதான். ஆனால், அதற்கே அந்த லின்க்கில் இருக்கும் காமென்ட்களைப் பாருங்கள். ட்ராக்மாறி எங்கு போகின்றதென்று.
இதுபோன்ற பல காமெடிகளின் crux இதுதான். ஒரு படு offensive விஷயத்தை அதேயளவிற்கு/அதைவிட தூக்கலாக offensiveவாக சொல்வது. உதாரணமாக, உலகம் தோன்றிய வரலாறு/மனிதர்கள் தோன்றிய வரலாறு என்று நமது பண்டிதமணிகள் அடித்துவிடும் சரடுகள் ஒரு லாஜிகல் மைன்ட்க்கு insultingகாவும்/offensiveவாகவும் தெரியத்தானே செய்யும். அதை சகித்துக்கொள்வதுபோல இதையும் சகித்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டியதுதான். நம்மை pampering செய்வது இதன் நோக்கமல்ல; உலுக்குவது. நல்ல art form அதைதான் செய்ய வேண்டும். அதையே சீரியஸாக சொல்லாமல், இப்படி காமெடியாக சொல்வதன் மூலம், எளிதில் மக்களை யோசிக்க வைக்க முடியும்; "ஆமால...இதையா நம்பிகிட்டு/செஞ்சுகிட்டு இருக்கோம்" என்று நமது ஈகோவை சற்று அடக்கி, வேறு கோணத்தை முன்வைக்கும். Of course, இதுபோன்ற எல்லா காமெடி ஷோ/டாக் க்ஷோக்களின் நோக்கமும் இதுதான் என்று சொல்லவே முடியாது.
எனது கணிப்பின்படி இதுபோன்ற சூழல் இந்தியாவில் (குறிப்பாக தமிழ்நாட்டில்) நடக்க வாய்ப்பேயில்லை என்று தோன்றுகிறது. Yes...அங்கொன்றும் இங்கொன்றுமாக சில முயற்சிகள் நடந்தாலும் அடுத்த கட்டத்திற்கு எதுவும் போகவில்லை/போகவும் முடியாது. ஆர்வமுள்ள ஆட்கள் இருந்தாலும், சிஸ்டம் விடாது. அடி வெளுத்துவிடுவார்கள்; சாவு நிச்சயம். ஆனால் இலைமறைகாயாக செய்ய முடியும். 60களின் தென்னமெரிக்க சினிமாவில் இதுபோன்ற பகடிகள் அதிகம். ஏன் சிஸ்டம் வரைக்கும் போவானேன். ஜாலியாக Fbயிலோ, twitterயில் கூட கலாய்க்க முடிவதில்லை.
ரோமன்ஸ் பொலன்ஸ்கிக்கும் - Spotlight படத்திற்கும் என்ன சம்பந்தம் ?
அதையும் மீறி ஏதாவது முயற்சி நடந்தாலும், அடுத்தவருக்கு என்றால் பிரச்சனையில்லை. ஆனால் என்னை/என் ரசனையை/என் நம்பிக்கைககளை கலாய்த்தால் அதை வெகு சீரியஸ் முகத்துடன் அணுகுவது நமது ஆட்களின் பிரச்சனை. சுயபகடி என்பது நம்மாட்களுக்கு சுட்டுப்போட்டாலும் வராது. அப்படியான சுயபகடியின் மூலம் Black peopleன் வலிகளை/குசும்புகளை/கைவிட வேண்டிய விஷயங்களை சொல்வதில் கைதேர்ந்தவர்கள் Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle. பழைய ஆட்களில் Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, Dick Gregory (இந்தாளை மிகப்பிடிக்கும். இதைப் பார்த்தால் ஏனென்று புரியும்). இதில் Bill Cosby, போன வருடம் sexual assault கேஸில் மாட்டிக்கொண்டார். விடுவார்களா...வறுத்தெடுத்துவிட்டார்கள். Chirs Rockன் இந்த show, one of my all time favorites.
அதுபோலவே Dave Chappelleயின் இந்த முழு ஷோவும்.
நம்மாட்களுக்கு Memeகளினால் மட்டுமே பரிட்ச்யமான George Carlinனில் ஆரம்பித்து Louis C K வரை இன்னொரு பக்கம். இதில் Carlin - அமெரிக்க வாழ்வின் அபத்தங்களை போட்டுத்தாளிப்பதில் வல்லவர். கூடவே, கடவுள் மறுப்பும்/அரசுகளின் மீதான விமர்சனமும்.
Lewis Black. இவரது ஸ்டைல் எனக்கு மிகப்பிடிக்கும். கொஞ்சகொஞ்சமாக rantடை ஆரம்பிப்பார்.
Bill Maher. அலட்டிக்கொள்ளாத ஸ்டைல்
Stephen Colbert. Deadpanனிற்கு சிறந்த உதாரணம். இவரும் Eminemம் அடித்த கூத்தை நீங்களே பாருங்கள். இவர் அவ்வளவாக stand-up நிகழ்ச்சிகளை நடத்துவதில்லை
Louis CK. Freestyle comedian என்று சொல்லலாம். சமீபத்தில் கூட Child abuseசைப்பற்றி பேசுகிறேன் பேர்வழி என்று வாங்கிக்கட்டிக்கொண்டார்.
மேலிருப்பவர்கள் போலல்லாமல், சிரித்தால் போதும்/நோக்கமெல்லாம் ஒன்றுமில்லை என்று வகையில் Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari, Russell Peters போன்ற ஆட்கள் உண்டு. என்னதான் சொன்னாலும், Russell Petersன் இந்த ஷோ (முழு ஷோவும்) எப்பொழுது வேண்டுமென்றாலும் திரும்பத்திரும்ப பார்க்கலாம்.
பெண்களில் (தனியாக இப்படி சொல்வதில் உடன்பாடில்லை என்றாலும், அவர்களது ஷோக்களின் தீம்கள் அப்பிடி இருப்பதால்) Whoopi Goldberg (மொக்கை) காலம் தொடங்கி இன்றிருக்கும் Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer பலர் இருந்தாலும் எனக்குப் பிடித்தது Janeane Garofalo தான்.
இதுவொரு பக்கம் என்றால், அடல்ட் கார்ட்டூன்கள் இன்னொரு பக்கம். இதில் Family Guy, South Park (எல்லா சீசனும் பார்த்தால் நிச்சயம் போர் அடிக்கும். Repetitiveவாகவே இருக்கும். டைம் வேஸ்ட் செய்ய வேண்டாம்) பிடித்தமானது. Boondocks டவுன்லோட் செய்ததோடு சரி. இன்னும் பார்க்க ஆரம்பிக்கவில்லை. அதனால், இந்த கார்ட்டூன்களை வெறித்தனமாக பார்த்த Hari Krishஸிடம் சிலபல வரிகள் எழுதித்தருமாறு கேட்டேன். அவரும் ஆஃபிஸ் நேரத்தில் கர்மசிரத்தையாக உட்கார்ந்து எழுதிக்கொடுத்துள்ளார். The theme of the following Adult cartoons might be off putting for you, if you are easily offended. So, please feel free to steer clear. And for the some of us who enjoy racial, dark, gruesome, offensive humor, we are going to have a very good time.
Some of the contents in the adult cartoons discussed here could not be reproduced in the live action format because … you will know .. if you watch them.
One thing that we can agree that the Americans are good at is taking a good look at themselves and laugh. We are nowhere near their sense of humor. It is evident when we watch their movies, series , video games, stand-up comedy and celebrity roasts.
These are the 3 adult cartoons i liked the most. The reason being obviously, the offensive humor. I am sucker for that.
South park: started airing in the year 1997 with the following disclaimer
Well, now you know what you expect. And what you get is the 22 minutes of unruly, offensive, gruesome toilet humor you can ever imagine. This is the show that took insult comic to the whole new level. You cannot watch one of the episodes without thinking, ”they made fun of that” or “How can you make fun of that?” and thats where they win.
The main characters are 9 year old 4th grade children of southpark elementary. After watching a couple of seasons you will not help but becoming a fan of one of the main character “Eric Cartman” who is america’s darling. The irony here is Cartman is everything that is wrong with America and they are 100% aware of that. South park has a huge cast which includes Stan the voice of reason, Kyle the Jew, Kenny the dirty one, Randy the America’s dad, Mr Hanke the chirstmas Poo (It is exactly what you think it is), Mr.Garrison the sexually confused elementary school teacher who had two sex change operations in the course of the series, Terrance and Philip the Canadian comedy duo, Cartman the jew hating, fat, ignorant racist kid and Jesus christ and satan as reoccurring character.
There is a huge, in your face parody of celebrities that include Tom Cruise, Kanye West, Mel Gibson, Oprah, and Muhammed (which explains the threats ). So, if you are a celebrity and if you mess up, you end up in a episode of south park. by the way, most of the characters are voiced by Matt and Trey the creators. This is the show that put “Comedy central” on map which has become famous for introducing some of the best stand up comedians in the history of the US and there are always “the Roasts”.
Cartman best scene:

And south park is america’s conscious with sick sense of humor. South park has been threatened, criticized and sued for its political and religious satire over the years and but the makers Trey Parker and Matt Stone would not stop. South park is by far the Maxx usage of Freedom to express. If Eminem were a Cartoon, it would be south park. Over the years, south park has gone through many changes but the best one is adapting to the serial elements and reoccurring story lines. Watch the seasons 18 and 19 (By far the best season in recent years)

P.S: There is a hilarious documentary about the making of South park which is available in their site. South park also released a kick ass video game and a full, length movie which was nominated for academy awards for best original song in a feature film and this is how the creators walked the red carpet.
Family Guy:
If you are one of those guys who do not like the yellow people of the Simpsons and looking for a better and adult version, look no further and watch “family guy”. TThe creator Seth Macfarlane has a impressive resume with the movie Ted, the other TV shows “Cosmos:: The space time odyssey”, The Cleveland show , the spin -off of family guy (Don’t watch it, it is not worth it) and the American dad. When he is not repeating the living shit out whatever he is good at , he voice acts, directs and writes for family guy. This is one of those shows that audience love so much they have made FOX revive it not one but twice after being cancelled.
The infamous offensive bits:
Family guy is grown man’s Simpsons that revolve around the Griffins, a dysfunctional family that is led by ignorant, douchy and absolutely stupid Peter griffin. The satire on America here is done mostly by flashbacks and cutaways which became overwhelming at some point, it led to south park make a couple of special episodes about how corny and predictable the show is. (The Simpsons team sent them flowers as a token of appreciation ). Despite getting cancelled twice and being accused of being a Simpson rip off, fans still tune into family guy because of the shows hilarity and self awareness. The shows sometimes makes fun of itself when it doesn’t call bullshit on other shows and celebrities (Check out the news sequence of family guy. Its hilarious).
The first thing that attracts you in my opinion is the cast, just like south park , family guy’s huge cast is its main asset. Especially, Stewie Griffin – the an old year old toddler (one of the best things with cartoons/animes , the cast doesn’t have to age) with Posh British accent and undying rage to kill his mother Lois. Macfarlene said he influence for Stewie’s character is “Rex Harrison” , the guy who played “Henry Higgins fin My fair lady” . The exploits of Brian Griffin (The families pet dog ) and stewie duo has become a huge hit among the fans. Apart from being a social satire , FG stands out for his dry wit and sarcastic humor mostly pointed straight at religion and taboo subjects. It is not as brutal as south park but FG has its way of giving it to the intended.
The Situation of FG being funny or unfunny solely depends on the certificate the episodes get mainly during the later years. I think it tries too hard to be funny these days. But hey, it might just be me and the show has its moments. Macfarlene’s singing abilities is well known from his Oscar hosting and Graham Norton show appearances and he goes full on Bruce Springsteen on the show which led to some of the best original songs that TV can offer. Unlike, south park FG has its array of celebrity cameos who “willingly” take jabs at themselves.
Don’t miss this song about FCC, the censor equivalent. Jesus and death appear as reoccurring characters in family guy as well (These guys would not leave them alone) with Adam west (Batman 1960) paying himself as himself as Mayor.West (one of the most bizarre characters in T history). FG has many straight to DVD movies released during its successful run which includes 3 star wars parodies (Macfarlene is a huge ass nerd) if you‘d like to check ‘em out. Finally , if you like to watch a borderline alcoholic mom throw up on her baby, a liberal douche, atheist , drug addict, smug dog be the voice of reason of the family, A toddler build a time machine to stop his birth or Peter Griffin fight a giant chicken , you will not be disappointed.
The Boondocks:
You might have noticed that I have compared Family guy with south park all, over the review of the same. Because of south park’s reach and being a phenomenon. You can't help but compare a newly airing series to south park as the latter laid the foundation deep and strong for a newbie to follow. Here is where The boondocks stands out.
Have you wondered why non-black people are so much obsessed with the African American / Hip hop culture ?. I believe because its is FRESH. So, just like its background and settings which is predominantly black The boondocks came out of nowhere to become one of the influential anime/adult cartoon of last decade. Running for only short lived 4 seasons , this is one of the freshest anime you will come across.
The opening sequence starts with a Afro Samurai influenced visuals with Asheru’s “Judo flips” as theme song (My ring tone for last 4 years). The 60s and 70s blaxplotation/ black power influenced lyrics what got me into this in the first place.
Two little brothers with polar opposite personalities, one being a thinking black man and the other one being a wanna be thug and her token dirty old black grandpa move to a sub urban white neighborhood. What would you do with the above plot? Well , the creators said one of the influential, thought provoking, social satire in anime format.
This puts the racial events, black on black crimes and reverse racism is perspective while telling a funny story each episode. The animation format is heavily influenced by the Japanese Anime art. This has stirred a lot of controversy for the extended usage of the word “Nigger”( but still has nothing on Quentin tarantino’s usage on the same). Especially when Martin Luther king Jr (Cameo :P ) says it.
This has also added a new phrase in the urban dictionary called “The Nigga moment” - which is the creators witty take on black on black crime. The boondocks doesn’t shy away from parodying and making fun of the contemporary black/ hiphop culture while discussing LGBT and police and government brutality against the minorities.

I don’t have much to say about The boondocks as it has been a very long time and I will leave you to it. One thing I can assure is, if you like Hip hop culture, movies like “Friday”, straight outta Compton, boys in the hood, menace to society and video games like “GTA san andreas” , you will love it.

I just have to mention it because even if you haven’t watched a single episode of Dragon ball Z or its sequels , you will love it. Have you wondered DBZ is bit draggy and the humor is too PG13 for you (atleast the American version )?
If so, please do not miss this . This is parody at its best. This adult episode by episode version of DBZ is so funny , even the show creator Akira Toriyama praised it. If you are a Fan and if you want to re watch DBZ with adult rated humor and pop culture references, please do not miss it.
